‘Everyone would love to play there’ – Liverpool target Ismaila Sarr teases Reds transfer but Watford want £40m

Ismaila Sarr has revealed he would ‘love’ to play for Liverpool.

The Watford winger has been linked with a £40million move to the Reds after suffering Premier League relegation last season.

Sarr, a £25m club record signing for the Hornets last summer, scored six goals and registered four assists in his debut campaign in England.

In an interview with Les Echos, the Senegal international teased a switch to Anfield.

He said: “Liverpool are a really great team – everyone would love to play there.

“They won the Premier League this year and the Champions League last year, but also there are great teams in the English league.

“Frankly, I have yet to make a choice. If that were to happen, I just wish they were a good team. At the moment, there are only guesses.”

Sarr scored twice and assisted another goal as Watford inflicted a first Premier League defeat of the season on Liverpool in February.

He is international teammates with Reds star Sadio Mane, who he has called a ‘big brother’ in the past.

Sarr said: “Sadio is talking to me all the time. He advises me to ‘do this, do that’. He is a big brother for me.

“When I arrived, he sent messages saying welcome to the Premier League, welcome to England and we also talk when we are in the national team.

“He gives me tips, I try to execute them and to implement them. ‘If you don’t play, be calm, carry on, do your job, it will be okay’, that is what he says. So I try to do the same.

“If I do not play, no problem. I come and work on the following day.”
