Former West Ham defender Rio Ferdinand believes David Moyes has a ‘huge job’ on his hands to keep the Hammers in the Premier League.
Moyes was named as Manuel Pellegrini’s successor at the end of December – a decision which didn’t go down well with the club’s fan base.

The Scot made the perfect start to his second coming at the London Stadium, with West Ham thrashing Bournemouth 4-0 in his first game back in charge.
However, the east London side have failed to win a single league game in six attempts since then.
That dismal run has seen the Hammers drop into the relegation zone, and with back-to-back away games against Manchester City and Liverpool coming up either side of the inaugural winter break, things look bleak for the Hammers.
And Ferdinand, a product of the club’s famous talent factory, says Moyes must address this situation quickly and turn their fortunes around.
“They’re in a relegation battle at the moment. Their position tells you all you need to know,” Ferdinand said at the launch of BT’s 4-3-3 strategy.

“They’ve got to find some fight from somewhere. At the end of the day no-one has a divine right to be in the Premier League.
“They’ve spent big money on players for West Ham’s level. At the moment it’s not bearing fruit.”
He continued: “They’ve got good people in the building, especially personnel like Mark Noble [the captain].
“He knows his way around West Ham, knows his way around the league and knows what it means to the local people there.
“David Moyes has got a huge job on his hands. He’s got to make sure he keeps West Ham in the league. He’s got to galvanise that squad now.
“West Ham is the team I grew up up in, so obviously I want to see them do well.
“It’s difficult as it can get toxic there [ the atmosphere] very quickly. The fans want to see a certain style of football and they want to see results – just like at every other football club.
“They’ve got to produce some performances, get a bit of momentum going and add some consistency in terms of their results now.”
Ferdinand, meanwhile, has welcomed BT’s new football partnership involving the Home Nations and hinted he would be interesting in joining the board of a football club or association.
The former England defender was speaking at the launch of the strategy, which will use the power of football and technology to release the potential of para and disability, and grassroots and women’s football communities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Ferdinand, an ambassador and pundit for the broadcaster, discussed the need for more people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds to get top jobs in the sport.
“I think it’s about reaching out into the communities and giving them the understanding that there is an opportunity to get on that ladder,” he said.
“There needs to be something that’s going to suggest that that’s changing. That people will be incentivized into making that first step. I think that’s the same with the boardroom.
“On the pitch, it’s very, very diverse. Black players, players of all different backgrounds out on the pitch. But that’s not reflected anywhere else in the game.
“That has to come from yes underneath, something like this that is hopefully going to provide the foundations and help push people into it but also it has to come from the top as well. It can’t just come from one way.
“There need to be people in the boardrooms who say, OK I’m willing to open the doors. Listen I’m going to put my neck out and say I want you to come into the boardroom or be part of the consulting team that is going to show people that there is a way into the boardrooms or into the upper echelons of the game.”
