UFC ‘Fight Island’ location leaked as Abu Dhabi as Darren Till and Robert Whittaker prepare to head to the Emirates
The location of UFC ‘Fight Island’ has finally been revealed as Abu Dhabi, according to reports.
A global pandemic caused by COVID-19 has forced Dana White back into a corner with live events virtually impossible.
But the UFC president thrives in these sort of situations and, as well as putting on live events in America on at the UFC Apex, White revealed plans on ‘Fight Island’.
The idea was to fly international fighters onto a private island and enforce social distancing and safety measures.
According to Brazilian outlet Combate, the fights will take place in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
The organisation headed to the UAE last September for UFC 242 and it was a huge success story, with lightweight champion defending his belt against Dustin Poirier.
While the Russian may well wait for crowds to return to arenas before he defends his 155lbs strap against Justin Gaethje, there are no shortage of possible main events.
One fight which seems to be perfect for ‘Fight Island’ is the middleweight clash between Darren Till and Robert Whittaker
The two men have engaged in jovial banter on social media, but could well be heading to the Emirates for a dust up in the desert.
