Billy Joe Saunders gives update on hearing over mock domestic violence instructions video, still waiting for date from BBBofC
Billy Joe Saunders’ licence remains suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control as a date for his hearing is yet to be set.
The WBO super-middleweight world champion posted a controversial video with mock instructions on domestic violence back in March, which saw the BBBofC take action.

However, initial plans to stage a hearing via video conferencing during the coronavirus lockdown appear to have proved difficult.
When asked if he was still suspended pending a hearing, Saunders told White and Sawyer on talkSPORT: “It’s still the situation.
“We’re just waiting for the Board of Control to come up with a date that suits everybody.
“The coronavirus, obviously it’s still a little bit tough to have a date for a hearing. We’re just waiting for the best day to do it.”
This is far from Saunders’ first controversy
In the video, Saunders stands in front of a heavy bag and demonstrates techniques for abuse.
He says: “Just wanna make a little video, just for all you dads, husbands.
“You’ve got your girlfriends, etc. Obviously this COVID-19’s been very serious and we’re isolated away in very tight spaces.
“So if your old woman’s giving you a little bit of mouth and you try to patient, you try to be calm, cool, but after the sixth day you’re just about to explode.

“All of a sudden she’s coming at you, spitting a bit of venom in your face, ready to say something, I don’t know what you’ve done, but you’ve upset her.
“So as she comes in, you’ve lost it, just keep it safe with the hands.”
Saunders then shows a right hand ‘on the chin’ and a left hook to ‘finish her off’.
Although it is apparant that the 30-year-old made the video as a joke, the subject matter has still attracted a strong negative response.
BJS is planning a £25,000 donation
Saunders apologised in the aftermath of the controversy, and has since pledged a donation to a worthy cause.
He explained: “I’m gonna give £25,000 to domestic abuse chairities to help fight domestic abuse.
“Hopefully it can do a little bit, if it can stop one person getting abused then I’ve done a good job.

“I do it [the donation] because I want to do it, not because I’ve been told to do it.
“I do nothing I get told, as you can see from the trouble I get myself into, it’s silliness.
“I do it because I’ve got a good heart and I feel like doing it.
“You can only move forwards form things like this and try to be a better person. That’s what I’m trying to do.”
