Man City set to let Leroy Sane’s contract run down as Bayern Munich linked with another bid for winger this summer
Man City are reportedly willing to risk Leroy Sane leaving on a free transfer rather than sell him to Bayern Munich in the summer in a cut-price deal.
The Bundesliga giants have been chasing the 24-year-old for some time and were pushing to sign him last summer.
They made a very public pursuit of the player before he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the Community Shield.
Transfer talk continues to rumble on with reports in the German media linking Sane with a move to Bayern and they were prepared to start the bidding at £35million.
According to the PA news agency, it would be considered a derisory bid and would only antagonise Man City.
The reigning Premier League champions would rather risk Sane leaving on a free transfer at the end of his contract than allow him to go on the cheap to Bayern.
The Germany international was nearing a comeback when the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, having returned to training towards the end of January and seen some action for the under-23s.
Sane has won two Premier League titles during his time at City, along with the FA Cup, two EFL Cup crowns and the PFA Young Player of the Year award for 2017-18.
