Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho admits to disobeying coronavirus guidelines and urges people to 'play their part' and follow government's lockdown rules

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has admitted he disobeyed the government’s lockdown guidelines after he was spotted training with Tanguy Ndombele in a north London park.

Mourinho was pictured doing a session with midfielder Ndombele on Hadley Common, where it is believed the pair were only working together despite an image seeming to show two other people with them.

Davinson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon did their own work and were caught by a social media user running side-by-side around the same park in Barnet, north London.

Spurs right-back Serge Aurier also posted a video of himself on Instagram jogging alongside another person, despite the club underlining the government’s COVID-19 regulations to their players.

“I accept that my actions were not in line with government protocol and we must only have contact with members of our own household,” said Mourinho.

“It is vital we all play our part and follow government advice in order to support our heroes in the NHS and save lives.”

Spurs said they have spoken to the players to ‘remind them to respect’ the coronavirus guidelines.

A spokesperson for Tottenham said: “All of our players have been reminded to respect social distancing when exercising outdoors.

“We shall continue to reinforce this message.”

Former Lilywhites boss Harry Redknapp admitted he was surprised by Mourinho’s actions in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT.

Speaking on Wednesday’s Sports Breakfast, he said: “I’d imagine they’d all live near the training ground, somewhere, and you’d think they’d surely be better off popping off into the training ground wouldn’t they?

“I guess they’re not allowed to but it would be empty, they’d be no one there. It’s closer than the park, surely.

“But listen, we’ve all to obey the rules.

“If we want to clear this thing up, we’ve got to make sure we do what we’re told.

“And if we’re told to stay in and keep our distance, than they’ve got to do it.”
