UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic says he, not Jon Jones, would be Brock Lesnar’s UFC comeback fight

Brock Lesnar hasn’t said a thing, but speculation about his future continues to run rampant.

The 43-year-old let his WWE contract lapse having failed to agree new terms, but it’s widely believed he didn’t do so with the intention of leaving the company.

Instead, the contract issue likely has more to do with negotiations only getting serious when he’s needed to return.

That probably won’t be until WWE can have fans in the building again, when coronavirus is no longer an issue.

But is an MMA return for Lesnar in the meantime out of the question?

Former UFC heavyweight champion Lesnar retired from MMA in 2019 after confronting Daniel Cormier following his heavyweight title win.

With Jon Jones now moving to heavyweight, Lesnar vs Bones seems to be the fight on everyone’s lips – but current champion Stipe Miocic believes he should get the money fight with Brock first.

“A hundred per cent,” he told Michael Bisping’s Believe You Me podcast.

“Listen, I just think about it more and more. I do think 100 per cent if anything I would get the Brock Lesnar fight first or be asked first. I didn’t know [Jones] called the shots. I didn’t know that.”

WWE legend Kurt Angle said in a 2019 interview that if Lesnar would come out of retirement, it would be for Jones.

“The one fight he wants, and I don’t know if it’s ever going to happen, but he wants to go up against Jon Jones,” he explained.

In response, Bones said: “He knows that’s what his friends want to hear, but he doesn’t really want this fight. Trust me.

“Brock is way too slow, I’ll embarrass him.”

And Jones was still telling Lesnar he’d beat him last week.

The WWE star has made no comment on his future plans, but the talk of the MMA world seems to believe the time could be ripe for a return.

Jon Jones believes Brock Lesnar would be an easy fight for him, but it would certainly pay well

Factor in Dana White suggesting he would be happy to make the match-up with Jones and it’s easy to see how the buzz got going.

Miocic is likely to be busy with Francis Ngannou in his next fight, but the champion has also suggested that fight doesn’t excite him.

Lesnar has also been linked with making a move to AEW, the second biggest wrestling promotion in the world.

Would he? He’s probably too committed and well treated by WWE and it’s thought AEW wouldn’t want to match his exorbitant salary.
