Spotify down as music streaming service crashes for users around the world

It’s the go-to music streaming service for many people around the world, but it appears that Spotify is experiencing issues this afternoon.

According to Down Detector, the issues started at around 13:12 BST, and are affecting users worldwide.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 92% said they were unable to stream music, 4% were having problems with Spotify on Sonos, and 2% couldn’t log-in.

We tested both the iOS and Android versions of Spotify and did not encounter any issues. However, we were unable to stream music using the desktop version of Spotify.

Spotify tweeted: “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out! We’ll keep you posted.”

Mirror Online has contacted Spotify for further comment.

Several frustrated users have taken to Twitter to discuss the issues.

One user wrote: “Every song keeps stopping at 9 seconds and some won’t even load why tf is SpotifyDown.”

Another added: “Car journeys without music are the worst.”

And one joked: “How am I supposed to enjoy this 6 A.M. gaming session without my Slipknot?”

This isn’t the first time that Spotify has gone down in recent weeks.

Last month, the popular music app went down for users across the world for several hours.
