Sky Broadband down as service crashes leaving Brits unable to access internet

It’s one of the most popular internet providers in the UK, but it appears that Sky is experiencing issues with its broadband this morning.

According to Down Detector, the problems started at around 11:34 BST, and are affecting customers in Essex and Oxford.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 89% said they couldn’t access the internet, 9% were struggling with their TV, and 1% were experiencing a total blackout.

Speaking to Mirror Online, a Sky spokesperson confirmed two localised outages in Essex and Oxford.

They said: “We had a short outage lasting seven minutes in Essex this morning. It was resolved by 11:30 – 14 minutes before you published your piece. There is another outage in Summertown, Oxfordshire at the moment which is impacting around 2000 customers. This is the only live issue we’re having at the minute.”

Several frustrated users have taken to Twitter to discuss the outage.

One user tweeted: “Sky pls give me internet :(“

Another added: “Sky broadband down in Polesworth and Atherstone area (nr. Tamworth)… you need to sort it out…”

And one joked: “At this point my sky internet box is just an ugly accessory.”

This isn’t the first time that Sky Broadband has experienced issues in recent weeks.

Just last month the service crashed for users in the Yorkshire and Humber areas, leaving many people unable to get online.
