Neymar breaks down in tears and is consoled by David Alaba after Paris Saint-Germain lose Champions League final to Bayern Munich

Neymar burst into tears at full-time as Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the 2020 Champions League final.

Kingsley Coman came back to haunt his old club when he scored the game’s only goal with a 59th-minute header.

And Neymar, who left Barcelona for PSG in a world record £198million deal in 2017, could not control his emotions in Lisbon.

The 28-year-old was consoled by Bayern defender David Alaba shortly before the Germans lifted their sixth European Cup.

He was then also comforted by PSG boss Thomas Tuchel and club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Neymar scored three goals and registered four assists in PSG’s run to the final, but could not secure a first ever European Cup for the Ligue 1 champions.

He was put through on goal by Kylian Mbappe in the 18th minute, but his shot was well saved by the excellent Manuel Neuer.

The Germany No.1 was in inspired form as he went on to also deny Mbappe and Marquinhos from close range.

Neymar kept on pushing until the last second and even had an effort deflect agonisingly wide in injury-time.

Asked about Neymar’s PSG future after the match, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand told BT Sport: “I think he’ll stay. Where does he go? Barcelona? I don’t think they have the money.

“There is a huge recruitment process that needs to be followed [at PSG].

“They’ve lost so many players in this period that they have to recruit. That’s going to be important.”
