There’s plenty of excitement about the next instalment in the mega popular FIFA franchise, with EA recently revealing a bunch of new features for Ultimate Team, Career Mode and more that will be coming to the new game, but when is FIFA 21 actually due for release?
Well it all depends what edition of the game you buy, as some editions give you early access to FIFA 21.
But, the earliest you’ll be able to play FIFA 21 is through EA Access (PS4, Xbox One) or Origin Access (PC), with Play First Trials starting start on October 1, 2020, but you’ll only have 10 hours of gameplay during this trial.

If you pre-order the FIFA 21 Ultimate Edition or Champions Edition on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC you’ll be able to play three days earlier on October 6, 2020, with the FIFA 21 Standard Edition allowing you to play FIFA 21 on the game’s official UK and worldwide release date of October 9, 2020.
It has also been confirmed that FIFA 21 will be playable on the next-generation edition of gaming consoles, the Playstation 5 and the Xbox One Series X, but no release date has been confirmed for these consoles yet, so there’s no way of knowing when FIFA 21 will be available on the next-gen consoles yet.
But, EA have confirmed that FIFA 21 will be coming to these next-gen consoles, so watch this space!
EA have also confirmed that if you purchase FIFA 21 on Xbox, PS4 or PC, you’ll have access to something called Dual Entitlement, which will enable you to upgrade your copy of FIFA 21 on PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or from Xbox One to Xbox Series X, at no extra cost.
The Dual Entitlement offer will let you upgrade your copy of the game at no extra cost up until the release of FIFA 22.
Also, all progress you make or content you acquire within FIFA 21 Ultimate Team (including players, items, coins, FIFA Points, match record, and leaderboard placement), as well as all progression in VOLTA FOOTBALL will transfer from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 and back, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X and back. Which is very handy indeed.
