Israel Adesanya has warned Jon Jones he still plans to face him in the future, even if the fight has to be made at heavyweight.


‘Bones’ vacated his UFC light-heavyweight title following the conclusion of UFC 252, which saw Stipe Miocic retain his heavyweight crown against Daniel Cormier.

With ‘DC’ set to retire, it throws the entire division wide open and it seems Jones wants to test the waters in the land of the giants having ruled over the 205lbs division with an iron fist.


Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz will face off for the vacant belt at UFC 253, meaning someone other than Jones and Cormier will hold the title for the first time in nine years.


Despite the 33-year-old’s decision to move up a weight class, long-time adversary Adesanya is not surprised Jones has moved up considering his own sharp descent to the top.


“Look how long it took him to move up to heavyweight,” Adesanya told reporters during Tuesday’s UFC 253 media call. “Finally.

“He was expecting me to do it straight away, but I hadn’t defended my belt yet. I’ve defended my belt twice now, I’m going to defend it a few more times and then do what I set out to do.


“But, yeah, the pot calling the kettle black on his part. Go put some f****** muscle on your chopstick legs and go f****** fight Francis Ngannou and watch him break you.


“I hope he doesn’t, though. Maybe he does. Who knows?”


Of course, ‘The Last Stylebender’ has the small task of defending his middleweight title against Paulo Costa at UFC 253 to also consider.
