AJ Styles addresses rumours that he is ‘unhappy’ in WWE
AJ Styles may be in the winter of his career by his own admission, but he’s still in top form.
The two-time WWE champion is currently reigning as the Intercontinental champion on SmackDown and seems set to clash with Jeff Hardy at SummerSlam this Sunday or beyond.
However, there are lingering rumours that AJ Styles is unhappy in WWE.
The base of those rumours stem from the altercation with Paul Heyman that caused for Styles to move from RAW to SmackDown.
Styles claims Heyman outright lied to him about the futures of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows before they were released in mid-April. Vince McMahon is said to have told Styles that it was Heyman that pushed for the release of both, but Heyman had denied that to Styles’ face previously.
During his latest stream on Twitch, Styles addressed the rumours that he’s unhappy.
“I’m unhappy being Intercontinental Champion, I’m unhappy what? What do I have to be unhappy about?” AJ asked.
“We all understood what happened [with Paul Heyman]. The problem with everything that happened is that the lie happened, the blatant lie.
“I don’t really want to harp on anyone anymore. What’s done is done.”
Seems a pretty emphatic rebuttal and the rumours are only stemming from something he’s already publicly addressed.
Styles has also suggested recently that he is desperate to face Edge in WWE, an idea the legendary Rated-R Superstar has reciprocated.
Speaking on the same stream, the Phenomenal One talked about the moment Edge returned at the Royal Rumble.
“It’s really cool to see the reaction that he got because he never thought he’d be back, no one ever thought he’d be back,” Styles said.
“And being in the ring, knowing you, myself, was about to do something really cool with him. It was exciting for me just to see the response, and everything about it, and knowing I was going to get the opportunity to work with this guy.
“So, I was super happy for him. I know he was super stoked.
“It kind of ended on a low note for me when I separated my shoulder, but that was all my fault. But it was still awesome to see it and be a part of it all.”
