iPhone 12 leak suggests Apple's 2020 smartphone will look just like the iPhone 4

It’s one of the most eagerly anticipated smartphones of the year, and now Apple fans have been given a sneak peek at the iPhone 12.

HaAppleistim has shared photos of what it claims are the iPhone 12 dummy units – basic shells that are intended for case makers to get working on their designs.

The dummy units don’t show every little detail of the smartphone, but give us a glimpse at the overall design.

The images indicate that all of Apple’s 2020 smartphones – expected to be basic 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch devices, a 6.1-inch Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone Pro Max – will have more square edges than previous models.

In fact, the images actually suggest that the iPhone 12 could resemble the iPhone 4, which came out in 2010!

The images come days after the iPhone 12 release date was ‘leaked’ online.

Jon Prosser, a respected leaker, claims that Apple will unveil a new Apple Watch and iPad in the week commencing September 7.

The iPhone 12 will be revealed at an event in the week commencing October 12, with pre-orders opening that same week, according to Mr Prosser.

Shipping for the iPhone 12 will then being the following week.

However, the leak indicates that the iPhone 12 Pro will not be available for pre-order until at least November.

Mr Prosser explained: “With the staggered release of iPhone 12 and uncertainty of final dates for Pro models, there’s a chance that the dates could slip/change.

“I’ll let you know if anything gets changed! But for now, this is the info in the system.”

The news will come as a surprise to many Apple fans, who expected the 2020 iPhones to be unveiled in September, as has been the case for the previous eight years.
