Arsenal legend Ray Parlour would ‘love to see’ Man City outcast John Stones at the Emirates next season amid Chelsea transfer links

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has once more reiterated that he would ‘love to see’ John Stones at the Emirates next season.

Last month the talkSPORT Breakfast regular commented that £20million for the Manchester City defender would be a ‘great deal‘ amid reported interest from West Ham.

And on Friday, Parlour called on the Gunners board to take a chance on Stones, who looks unlikely to have a future at the Etihad following Nathan Ake’s £41m arrival from relegated Bournemouth.

“I think there will be a lot of clubs interested,” the former England midfielder told talkSPORT.

“The centre-half position has always been a problem for a lot of clubs. ‘Will he go? I’d love to see him at Arsenal.

“Whether they can get the money up front and have the money to buy him is another matter.

“He’s at that age now where he needs to play. West Ham would love him. I don’t think he’s going to get many opportunities at Man City.

“I think the manager [Pep Guardiola] doesn’t fancy him. He’s young enough to go somewhere else and play on a regular basis.”

Frank Lampard is reportedly weighing up a move for Stones and when asked if he thinks Chelsea would take a chance on him, Parlour replied: “Maybe. I think that’s been their problem, the centre-half position.

“He does make a mistake here and there but I think he’s a good player. He’s just lost that little bit of confidence. “Sometimes he tries too hard when he gets his opportunity rather than saying, ‘right, I’m going to defend well today, get a clean sheet for Manchester City‘, he tries and plays out a little bit too much.”
