Arsenal face battle for ‘incredible’ transfer target Houssem Aouar as Man City enter race, along with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain
Arsenal might have already held talks with Lyon, but they now face a battle to sign Houssem Aouar as Manchester City enter the race.
The talented midfielder has been a star in France for the last three seasons and his impressive Champions League showings against Juventus, City, and Bayern Munich have seen clubs express their interest.
According to ESPN, the Citizens have approached the French side about a deal, but the Gunners have already been speaking with their sporting director, Juninho.
It’s believed the Brazilian and his compatriot at Arsenal, Edu, have spoken about a deal involving Matteo Guendouzi but no fee has been discussed with more talks set to happen.
The 22-year-old creator also has admirers in Italy and in France with Juventus linked and Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, Leonardo, meeting with his agents to profess his interest in their client.
Lyon aren’t opposed to selling the player, even though his current contract is in hand and won’t run out until 2023.

The transfer won’t happen any time soon though with the player seemingly keen to enjoy his summer and take his time thinking over any move.
Aouar is known to idolise Zinedine Zidane and has also had links to Liverpool in recent transfer windows.
Man City coming back into the race is intriguing with manager Pep Guardiola already admitting he likes the player a lot.
After his side played Lyon in the Champions League last season, he said: “[Aouar] is a very good player. He is incredible,” said the Manchester City manager of the Olympique Lyonnais youngster last year, according to Sky Sports.
“He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.”
