WWE news: Daniel Bryan says he wants to have a rivalry with ‘underutilised’ Big E next – ‘he’s so good’
Daniel Bryan, probably against all the odds, has achieved everything he could have ever wished for in WWE.
Winning the world title at WrestleMania 30 was one thing, but the fact he was able to battle back from a forced retirement has given his career added importance and significance.
Today, Bryan is in a nice position in WWE. He can put over talent just as plausibly as he could win a world title and is still firing on all cylinders.
Bryan turned 39 last month, but he has been saying for a couple of years he plans to retire in the near future and being a present father is important to him.
As such, he’s been increasingly looking forward to the future recently. His partnership with Drew Gulak is something he has pushed for in particular.
The Leader of the Yes Movement is a regular in WWE production meetings and Vince McMahon certainly hears out his ideas. When he appeared on WWE Backstage this week alongside Renee Young and CM Punk, he discussed who he wants to feud with next.
“It’s interesting because there’s already guys that are on TV that I would really want to work with, in singles programmes with,” Bryan started.
“Number one, who I think has been supremely underutilised is Big E. He’s just an entertaining guy, and he’s so big and he’s fast.
“I’ve had maybe about two or three singles matches with him. Every single one, when I’ve been in the ring with him, how is this guy so good? He’s so good.
“Another one is Gran Metalik because I love Lucha, and to me, he’s one of the premiere Lucha guys in the world.
“We just don’t utilise him that often, guys like that who are already on the main roster. It’s hard because when I look at NXT people, it’s guys that I want to see succeed because I know them, so it’s hard for me to look at them objectively.“It’s like I want Roderick [Strong] to come up because I’ve known him for years.”
Big E seems to be like a main eventer waiting to happen for a lot of people. While New Day stablemate Kofi Kingston had his world title moment last year at WrestleMania 35, Big E has all the tools to reach the summit himself.
