Mike Tyson called out by heavyweight Luis Ortiz ahead of potential return to boxing: ‘If he wants, I’ll go against him’
Mike Tyson’s proposed comeback has divided opinion – but one heavyweight desperate to fight him is Luis Ortiz.
A number of names have been tipped to fight 53-year-old ‘Iron Mike’, including rival Evander Holyfield and even current WBC heavyweight champ Tyson Fury.

Shannon Briggs and UFC legends Tito Ortiz and Wanderlei Silva’s names have also thrown in the mix.
But a more realistic option could be Cuban Ortiz, 41 who has challenged for the WBC belt twice.
‘King Kong’ lost to Deontay Wilder both times but gave the American a few things to worry about in both bouts.
He was well ahead on points in their 2019 rematch but an explosive shot by the Bronze Bomber ended it in the seventh round. These are the only two losses on Ortiz’s pro record, with 31 wins under his belt.
Could Ortiz be the first person to fight Tyson on his comeback?
On the prospect of fighting Tyson, Ortiz told El Nuevo Herald: “You know me and you know I am not a boxer to sit down and choose names for convenience.
“I’m going against whoever wants it. There’s a lot of talk about Mike Tyson’s return now.
“If he wants, I’ll even go against him. I just need a name and a date.”
Tyson has undergone a stunning body transformation ahead of his potential rematch, losing ten stone to get himself back into shape.
A trilogy scrap with Holyfield, 57, would arguably be the fans’ choice for Tyson’s return scrap with their 1997 bout being brought to an end by Tyson biting his opponent’s ear. Tyson was disqualified for this.
