A Manchester City fan group has unveiled a huge anti-UEFA banner in response to the club’s Champions League ban – labelling European football’s governing body a ‘Muppet Show’.
The Premier League side are in the process of preparing their appeal against the two-year suspension enforced on them by UEFA.
Back in February, City were punished for alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
The club vehemently deny any wrongdoing and are optimistic the ban will be overturned when the case is heard in front of the independent Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The case is due to be heard on Monday and is expected to last three days.
City fans far and wide were incensed by the news, with the 1894 Group raising over £8,000 in a matter of days to put together a display in response to the ban.
It was firstly unveiled in Heaton Park before being moved to the Etihad – where drone footage was obtained.
Speaking earlier this week, the group said: “There’s been lots of issues about the way UEFA have treated the fans, but this is about the way they’ve treated the club.

“The message we want to send to UEFA is that Financial Fair Play was just created to try and protect the elite and that we know they simply don’t want the new kids on the block, City, to be part of their club.”
The display portrayed UEFA members as characters from ‘The Muppets’ with ‘Stop Man City’ printed three times.
They also accused them of caring more about their alleged vendetta against City than the topic of racism.
The 42m x 20m banner was originally intended to be displayed at the home leg of Manchester City’s last-16 Champions League tie against Real Madrid – but the game was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
