Jadon Sancho and Kai Havertz IN – How Manchester United could look with two huge Bundesliga transfers next season
Just when you thought Manchester United were going to land one of the best talents in the Bundesliga, it now looks like they might get two!
The Red Devils have been hot on Jadon Sancho for some time and a hat-trick at the weekend, even if it was only against Paderborn, will only make them thirstier for the English wonderkid.
A deal has been speculated about for some time and a £100million offer is seemingly primed to go once a new transfer window is in place.
And now it appears Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in his bid to create a young and ambitious squad at Old Trafford, has acquired a new target.
Lighting up Germany even more so since the resumption of football in the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen ace Kai Havertz has got Europe’s elite clubs all in a lather.
He’s got the technical, physical and mental attributes to take him all the way top, and now has 11 goals and five assists in the league this season.
With the movement to disrupt defences and get on the end of some stunning link up play from someone like Bruno Fernandes, United landing Havertz would be another huge sign of intent.
According to The Sun United could put in a starting bid of around £50m, while they suggest Solskjaer could possibly play him on the left of a front three, with Sancho and the Germany international coming inside from the flanks to combine with homegrown talent Marcus Rashford.
It might seem fanciful given the current situation, but it appears Man United are freeing up funds having taken £140m out their £150m syndicated revolving credit facility (RCF), according to the Manchester Evening News.
Havertz would be some addition too with some of the glowing reports of his talents.
Ex-Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri claimed this season he was the ‘complete’ player who can star in a number of roles throughout a team.
He said: “He is a player who combines excellent physical qualities with great technical skills.
“At the moment they are using him mainly as an attacking midfielder behind the central forward or as a winger. I think he is a complete player that could also play as a midfielder.
“He is a player born in 1999… with those qualities and with that personality it makes you think it is certain he will become one of the most important players in Europe.”
And having him alongside Sancho and Rashford certainly sounds exciting for the Old Trafford faithful.
But how will Solskjaer’s midfield and attack look if they do land their brace of Bundesliga bright sparks? talkSPORT.com takes a look.

1. Solskjaer’s 4-2-3-1
In the main, the Norwegian has selected this formation during Man United’s recent uptick in form.
This has seen January signing Bruno Fernandes in a No.10 role with Fred and Scott McTominay, usually, behind him.
Meanwhile, ahead of his string-pulling performances, Fernandes has had a rotating cast due to injuries.
Anthony Martial, Dan James, Mason Greenwood and veteran Juan Mata have all played in differing roles either out wide or through the middle.
If Sancho and Havertz arrive and slot into this formation it could be that the latter plays in a role off the left, coming into the left half-space as Luke Shaw or understudy Brandon Williams get forward to create extra width.
2. 3-4-2-1
Both Man United and Leverkusen have used a back-three at points this season.
The Premier League side have mostly used a two-man frontline with a No.10 ten in this situation, while the German outfit have used two No.10s behind a centre-forward.
Havertz has often played behind the forward, however in recent games he has been playing as the striker, highlighting how adaptable he is, giving Solskjaer even more freedom to tinker with his tactics.
The pace and precision of Sancho makes him a likely candidate for the second forward role alongside Rashford, with Havertz behind, but Sancho’s ability to play in a similar formation with Borussia Dortmund means he too can float around this trio of roles.
It’s a little trickier behind with room for only two central midfielders but if Solskjaer is brave he can have Paul Pogba and Fernandes in a two, with the security of a back-three and the defensively excellent Aaron Wan-Bissaka around them.
