‘I don’t know what foot he is’ – Jesse Lingard hails Manchester United prodigy Mason Greenwood’s ambidextrous talent
Jesse Lingard has lavished praise on his Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood, and claims he still isn’t sure what the forward’s preferred foot is due to the technical prowess the youngster possesses.
Greenwood has belied his tender age of 18 to enjoy a breakthrough campaign at Old Trafford this season, scoring 12 goals and registering four assists in 40 appearances across all competitions in 2019/20.
“He knows the game of football, he shoots right to left foot. Still to this day I don’t know what foot he is,” Lingard told the Football Show on Sky Sports.
“He can score free-kicks with his left, take corners with his right. When he has been given the opportunity, he shows what he can do.
“It doesn’t matter about age, as long as you can perform on the day, and do the job for the team, you’ll be in the team. He is learning at a rapid rate at the moment.”
Lingard also revealed that Greenwood ‘holds his own’ in the United changing room when the banter starts flowing.

He added: “Mason, he is a cheeky chappy. He is a good lad, holds his own in the changing room and holds his banter.”
Meanwhile, Old Trafford loanee Odion Ighalo has drawn comparisons between the young forward and Robin van Persie.
“Mason is a very good player,” Ighalo, who signed a contract extension at United earlier this week, said. “I think I used to see with my eyes he’s looking like Robin van Persie.
“He can shoot with both feet, he’s a very intelligent player, young and is not afraid.”
