Ivan Rakitic to Spurs could be Jose Mourinho’s best transfer since bringing Cesc Fabregas back to the Premier League at Chelsea

RAKITIC TO SPURS?
For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you will have seen that even during a global pandemic, Spurs have been linked to a number of players.
Perhaps the biggest name floating around this week was that of Ivan Rakitic, the Barcelona midfielder who is reportedly extremely unhappy in Spain.
Sources in Spain believe Spurs are currently the front-runners for his signature, and despite the Croatian being the ripe old age of 32, in my eyes that’s exactly the sort of experienced head we’ve been crying out for.
I could see his signing as being similar to Mourinho bringing Cesc Fabregas to Chelsea in 2014. Think how much he could teach Winksy, and even Ndombele if he doesn’t head in the opposite direction.
Barcelona fans have been on his back after an admittedly average season, but in this market, I don’t think there’s many better options for us right now.

SUMMER SPENDING
Speaking of signings, it was revealed that Mourinho boss is expecting to be limited to free transfers and swap deals this summer, with the COVID-19 outbreak changing the entire complexion of the market.
This is hardly surprising, but it sounds like Thomas Meunier could be on his way to north London, with his deal at PSG running out this summer, and I expect most of our business to be similar.
It’s come at an obviously difficult time for Mourinho. Having inherited a squad with plenty of issues, that of which he’s seen already in his short time at the club, a summer clear-out would have been the first thing on his agenda.
We shall see folks, but if we end up with the 2020 equivalent of Louis Saha and Ryan Nelsen, don’t be surprised.

LEAKED KITS
Well it’s that time of year when leaked kits begin to float around and I don’t know about you, but I’ve not exactly been blown away by any of them.
That being said, I’ve always been one to change my mind on kits once I’ve actually seen the players wear them – our Champions League third kit from last season the perfect example.
The brilliant Graphic Styler on Twitter has done just that, putting all four of our supposed kits for next season onto the current squad and I must say, I love them all now.

ANGRY MOMENTS
talkSPORT tweeted earlier last week asking for people to reply with moments in football that have made them angry and boy did it open up some memories for me!
As a Spurs fan, one obvious one came to mind and that was Pedro Mendes’ infamous ghost goal at Old Trafford in 2005.
It has been 15 years and I’m still not over Roy Carroll’s blatant cheating. The image of the ball over the line will haunt me for as long as I live.
