Levy has been blasted for cutting salaries of his non-playing staff
Despite there being no football on at the moment, it’s never quiet when it comes to Spurs, so I thought it was about time for another Totally Tottenham.
Right then, let’s address the elephant in the room…
DASTARDLY DANIEL LEVY
I’ll be honest with you folks, I was embarrassed to be a Spurs fan this week.
No, it wasn’t a bad performance on the pitch. It wasn’t even unacceptable behaviour from fans. The root cause of my shame was brought on by the man supposedly leading this football club.
For those who missed it, the club cut all non-playing staff wages by 20 per cent and place them on furlough ‘where appropriate’ due to coronavirus. This is a club that earned €102million last season from the Champions League alone.
Darren Bent says Tottenham players can’t allow their club to put staff on furlough – “Morally, the players should be taking a pay cut.”
The part that I’m most ashamed about is this news was announced just a day after the club released their annual financial statement which revealed Levy received a £3m bonus last year for the completion of the new stadium. Oh, did I mention this was added to his £4m-a-year salary?
It was a dark day for the club, I am utterly embarrassed to have him lead us.
ONE YEAR ON
As I’m sure most of you saw, it was the anniversary of Spurs returning to N17 this week, as we celebrated one year in the new stadium.
Despite a terrible season both on and off the pitch, I miss it terribly.
It’s rather ironic to look back now at that cancelled home game against Manchester United. At the time I was quite relieved we didn’t have to play them, largely due to our abysmal form. But what I’d give for it now.

TRANSFER ROUND-UP
Well there’s no football, no immediate future for football and no transfer window on the horizon, but that hasn’t stopped speculation over transfers this week!
We started the week with news that Super Jan Vertonghen could be off to Barcelona, followed quickly by confirmation that Diego Milito rejected us way back in 2008.
Tottenham were reportedly offered a host of star names by Real Madrid, who want top scoring Harry Kane to lead their line
If that wasn’t weird enough, a source in Spain claimed Real Madrid had offered Bale, Rodriguez and Marcelo to Spurs in exchange for Harry Kane this summer.
We then rounded off the week with two ‘what could have been’ stories. First up, AC Milan’s Mateo Musacchio revealed he twice turned us down in 2017, followed by Netflix of all people revealing Spurs scouted former Sunderland striker Josh Maja nine times back in 2018.
Football, eh? Madness.
STARRING…LEDLEY KING?!
Just when you think the world couldn’t get any weirder right now, international superstar Joe Jonas announced his brand new series this week, including an episode starring our very own Ledley King!
Ledley, who met Jonas at the new stadium back in February before the win against Man City, is listed alongside a superstar cast for the series, including Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey.
The most hilarious part of the whole thing was that our one-kneed former captain was above Nicole Scherzinger in the billing. You can see the poster here.
I, for one, cannot wait to see it.
Give COVID-19 the red card
The quicker we work together to stop coronavirus spreading, the sooner we can get back into the pubs, the gyms and stadiums and arenas to see live sport again…
STAY AT HOME. Only leave for the following purposes:
- to shop for basic essentials – only when you really need to
- to do one form of exercise a day – such as a run, walk or cycle, alone or with other people you live with
- for any medical need – for example, to visit a pharmacy or deliver essential supplies to a vulnerable person
- to travel to and from work – but only where this is absolutely necessary

FINAL THOUGHTS
I hope you’re all staying safe right now in what really is a scary time.
Like most, I was very upset to see the scenes across London this week of people continuing to meet up in public spaces and ignoring the rules put in place to keep us safe.
