As soon as the coronavirus was announced as a pandemic, the whole sporting world took a hit.
The NBA and NHL have both suspended their seasons. Spanish and Italian football have come to a halt and all major events in the effected countries are either under review or cancelled.
WrestleMania seems to be the only event standing at this time of writing and WWE are desperate for it to go ahead.
Of course, it’s their banner event and much what they base their entire year around, but with three confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Tampa Bay area already, it’s hard to imagine.
Superstars like Braun Strowman, Sasha Banks and Sheamus have given their take on wh at’s going on right now.
It’s understood WWE officials – including Vince McMahon himself – held meetings with Tampa officials today regarding the status of WrestleMania.
Strowman actually made a video the other day telling fans to ‘wash these hands!’ – a play on his famous catchphrase ‘get these hands!’
WrestleMania has one of the most stacked cards in recent memory and WWE seemed to be on the cusp of building a new wave of stars.
Rhea Ripley was set to arrive against Charlotte Flair for the NXT title and Drew McIntyre has been on fire in his pursuit of Brock Lesnar and the WWE title.
With just over three weeks until the event is meant to go ahead, WWE would be forced to postpone the event at the very least and that wouldn’t do any favours for the aforementioned talent.
Would they stretch their storylines out or would they have to make new plans for WrestleMania? Only time will tell.
