Spring is almost ready to be sprung upon us and with this new season a brand-new version of Nintendo’s tiny titan of a console is coming. A Coral Pink edition of the compact Switch Lite will be coming to Europe on April 24 and is available for pre-order.
This pink device will sit alongside 2019’s Yellow, Grey and Turquoise Nintendo Switch Lite models. It will feature the same design limitations such as being unable to dock and having permanently attached controls but will also have the same lightweight, solid but sleek compact design.
The Coral model will of course support the same excellent library of games as the original and Lite Switch’s, with some games requiring an extra Joy-Con pair to the system like Mario Party.
Many Nintendo fans fell in love with the new shade when the device began to appear on social media.
Nintendo released a picture of the new Switch on their Japanese Twitter account on 18 February, and the Switch later featured in an Animal Crossing: New Horizons trailer.
The Coral Pink Switch will no doubt go down well with Kirby, Princess Peach and Splatoon fans, as well as gamers looking to add a little colour to their gaming.
Nintendo have long been fans of releasing wacky colour variants of their consoles and especially their handhelds starting with the Game Boy Play It Loud series back in 1995.
They also released colour variants of the N64 and later Game Cube showing that Nintendo are not afraid to throw a splash of colour into the dull black and white world of game consoles.
The new Coral colour could even tempt some Original Switch users who were holding out to cross over to the smaller lighter version of the popular gaming console.
Reactions to the Switch’s facelift have so far been positive from casual gamers and die-hard Nintendo fans alike.
Much like its counterparts the Coral Switch Lite will be priced at £199.99 and will be available April 24.
