Matt Riddle has not been shy in saying what he thinks about Goldberg in the past.
So it’s no surprise he was quick to comment on what happened at WWE Super Showdown on Thursday night.
Goldberg claimed his second Universal title by beating the previously undefeated Fiend in a few short minutes in Saudi Arabia.
Wrestling fans took to Twitter outraged that WWE would sacrifice one of it’s most carefully-built characters in years for the 53-year-old Goldberg, but it looks like the former WCW icon is heading to WrestleMania 36.
Rumours suggest this move was done to help Roman Reigns; WWE believe he has a higher chance of being cheered in the main event for defeating Goldberg than he would have for overcoming The Fiend.
From Matt Riddle’s perspective, it was another poor showing from the 53-year-old Goldberg – and he’s not alone in his assertion.
Last June, Riddle told talkSPORT that he thought Goldberg was flat-out ‘terrible’.
“The thing for me is,” began Riddle, “and one of the reasons I was never a fan of Goldberg in the beginning when everybody was like, ‘oh, he’s so good!’
“I was like, ‘no, he’s terrible, he’s hurting people’ – and there’s nothing else. He just has three-minute matches.
“And that was my thing and when people say, ‘who was your favourite wrestler?’ I really don’t have one.
“I just liked really good wrestling. That’s why I fight and I do that. So for me, I don’t care how much money he makes, I’m just glad people were entertained.
“But, stick to your wheelhouse, bro. And stop headbutting doors before you wrestle. And I’m not hating – I’m not hating – I’m just spitting facts and these are all facts and things he should take into consideration.
“And not just for me, not because he got made fun of, but for his health as well.”
Riddle and Goldberg ended up having a tense meeting at SummerSlam last August which was captured on the WWE cameras.
The King of the Bros is currently one-half of the NXT Tag Team champions with Britain’s Pete Dunne and seems destined to have a big future in the company.
Another man he hasn’t spoke very well of is Brock Lesnar and they reportedly had words backstage at the Royal Rumble, too.
Coincidentally, Riddle didn’t last long in the Rumble – his debut in the Rumble at that – and fans wondered if the two incidents were connected.
Funny now that the two men Riddle has criticised the most are the company’s two reigning world champions.
