For the past month, WWE has subtly been building to Ricochet and Brock Lesnar meeting.
The high-flyer low-blowed Lesnar in the 2020 Royal Rumble which helped set-up Drew McIntyre eliminating the WWE champion.
He then won a triple-threat match on RAW with Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins to earn a shot at Lesnar in Saudi Arabia at Super Showdown.
Well, he got that opportunity on Thursday evening and he lost in 80 seconds.
In fact, he didn’t get one bit of offense in on Lesnar as the champion emphatically retained.
Of course, WWE want Lesnar to look strong with a huge showdown McIntyre on the horizon at WrestleMania, but many fans were left scratching their head why he wouldn’t get any offense at all.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
Ricochet has been one of the most popular stars on RAW for the past year and as far as in-ring talent goes, he’s a hard man to match.
Lesnar has a solid history of working with smaller performers like AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan and Rey Mysterio.
So it’s a great shame that Ricochet wasn’t afforded the same opportunity they were to make some magic with the Beast Incarnate.
It’s probably going to be the last chance he gets to work with Lesnar too given the landscape in WWE and Lesnar’s limited schedule.
Some six years ago, Paul Heyman explained why Lesnar has such a special schedule in WWE.
“Brock Lesnar is not here 365 days a year, so when he appears, it’s can’t miss, it’s something extraordinary, it’s must see, it’s something special.
“Besides, if Brock Lesnar wrestled every single week, he would wipe out the entire WWE and in three months we’d have no one left to work with!”
