Krzysztof Piatek's wife dismisses claims failed Tottenham loan move from AC Milan was down to her

Krzysztof Piaket’s wife has rubbished reports suggesting she blocked a possible move to Tottenham in January.

The striker was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League club last month.

Spurs were, and still are, in need of extra attacking options following the hamstring injury suffered by star man Harry Kane.

AC Milan were willing to let the 24-year-old leave during the transfer window as he had fallen down the pecking order following the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Tottenham reportedly made a loan offer for Piatek but the move never materialised.

He ended up joining Hertha Berlin in a permanent transfer worth around £22.9million.

SportBild later reported that one of the reasons he turned down a move to north London was because of his wife.

They claimed his partner, Paulina Procyk, wanted to be closer to home and that was among the reasons why he turned down a move to Spurs.

Procyk dismissed the claims made by the German publication and said the ultimate decision was up to her husband.

She wrote on Instagram: “I don’t know where such information came from really, and how it got to the press.

“Yes, my husband holds my opinion in high regard, but I have never picked a club for him based on which city or climate I liked and I will never try to do so.

“Any place in the world, that allows my husband to grow, be happy, and make his dreams come true, is perfect for me.

“Decisions about new clubs to play in are made solely by Krzysztof along with his managers who care only about his growth and well-being.”

The most likely reason for the failure of the transfer is that AC Milan were looking for a permanent transfer while Spurs were believed to have offered an 18-month loan deal.
