Arsenal have one of the worst winning records in the Premier League this season and Mikel Arteta's stats are just as poor

Mikel Arteta is enduring what can only be described as a difficult start to life as Arsenal manager and he’s writing his name in the history books.

Unfortunately for the Spaniard it is for all the wrong reasons, as the Gunners struggled to a 0-0 draw against Burnley on Sunday.

Jay Rodriguez was inches away from grabbing a late winner for Burnley as Arteta’s revolution threatened to take a worrying turn in Lancashire.

Rodriguez struck the underside of the bar from close range in the 77th minute before the ball bounced down on the line to deny the Clarets three points.

Rodriguez, James Tarkowski and Jeff Hendrick had already spurned golden opportunities to put their side in front while the Gunners, still without a Premier League win since New Year’s Day, seldom threatened in the goalless draw – managing a lowly two shots on target.

The draw at Turf Moor was the 13th of the Premier League season for the north London side – and they also, remarkably, only have six wins to their name.

This is fewer wins than all but two sides in the top flight this term, and those teams are 19th place Watford and 20th place Norwich!

Arsenal’s dreadful record also means they have recorded their lowest total of points (31) after 25 games since the 1912/13 season, when they were only able to win once.

Furthermore, Arteta’s record of eight points from his first seven league matches is worse than the records of all but only three Arsenal managers since World War One.

The Gunners’ total of 13 draws is also the joint-most they have ever amassed in a single 38-game top-flight campaign, and they are the first team to tie more than 12 of their opening 25 fixtures since Manchester United back in 1980/81.

On paper and in the record books it appears Arteta is so far struggling to have a positive impact in north London.

Gooners will be hoping he turns things around – soon.
