Tyson Fury has branded Anthony Joshua ‘a third-tier heavyweight’ and told talKSPORT ‘I’ll cut him in half’ as he called out his British rival to fight him in 2020.
The two-time heavyweight world champion and current WBC king admitted he’s ‘an hour from going AWOL again’ as he continues to wait for his next fight.
The ‘Gypsy King’ also let rip in a trademark rant about what he’s going to do to AJ when the British boxing stars finally meet in the ring, and promised to ‘put him down like cheese’. Whatever that means.
Fury’s trilogy against Deontay Wilder has been postponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and there are now claims it could be called off altogether.
The fighter had admitted he basically has no idea what’s going on, and if a third bout against the American can’t happen in 2020 he wants to fight Joshua in December instead, insisting he is ready and waiting.
Earlier this year financial terms were agreed for the duo to square off in 2021 but, speaking to talkSPORT, Fury told AJ to ‘grow a pair’ and agree to face him NOW.
And when it was asked of him what exactly he’d do to the Londener, well, he didn’t disappoint… and barely paused for breath.
“Joshua ain’t man enough for me,” he said in the brilliant interview with talkSPORT host Jim White.
“Have you ever seen a hot knife go through butter before? That’s what I will do. I will put him down like cheese, and that’s a promise!
“Tell AJ to grow a pair and let’s step up in December and fight!
“I’ve been training since March, twice a day, six days a week. I’m ready for this fight. I’m ready to go. I don’t need a big long training camp, I can be ready in three or four weeks, I’m always fit anyway.
“So let’s get this big AJ fight on, let’s get it on. If Wilder don’t happen, let’s fight in December and give the fans what they want to see.
“I’ll step up and I’ll smash Anthony Joshua into next week. I’ve got more boxing ability in my little toe than he’s got in his whole body.
“I respect Anthony Joshua, I respect where he’s come from and what he’s done, he’s changed his stars as a person and he’s done fantastic in his career, but there are levels to this game and me, I’m top tier. I think Joshua is a third-tier heavyweight.
“I can beat him in a boxing match, I can beat him on the inside, I can beat him at punching, I can beat him every single way of the week.
“And there’s only way to prove that I can’t… come and show me that I can’t.
“I’d knock him out inside three rounds. How’s he going to get out of the way of me? Is he fleet-footed enough to get out of the way?
“I’d put him in down two or three rounds, easy. He’s very vulnerable early on, he only needs one left hook on the head, to the body, anywhere, he’s gone, he can’t take them.
“But listen, you don’t need to listen to me, when this fight gets made I’ll show you what to do with a bodybuilder like him; cut him in two.
“It’s not about tactics, it’s about balls, grit and determination, and I’ve got it to burn. I’ve got it in abundance, and he hasn’t.
“He quit against Andy Ruiz Jr and once you’ve jacked once in your mind you’ll always quit.
“The word ‘quit’ don’t exist to the Gypsy King.
“All these champions, I’ll lay them all to rest. Give me a time and place, I’ll turn up, like a seek and destroy missile.”
