The Undertaker explains why WWE dream match with Sting ‘looked better on paper’

The Undertaker has questioned calls for a dream match with Sting in WWE.

After stints in WCW and TNA, Sting finally debuted in WWE when he attacked Triple H at Survivor Series in 2014.

Sting is one of wrestling’s biggest names

However, he had just two pay-per-view matches with Vince McMahon’s company as he lost to Triple H and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 31 and Night of Champions, respectively.

Despite continual talk of a match, The Undertaker never got to face Sting in a wrestling ring.

Responding to a fan’s question on IGN’s YouTube channel, The Deadman said: “Sting stayed down in WCW for so long, and then he went somewhere else, and that window kind of closed. I know he kind of showed up at the end.

“The way people see that, it looks much better on paper that it actually would’ve been.

“It’s one of those matches that people will talk about forever.”

In June, The Undertaker appeared to confirm his retirement after a 30-year career in WWE.

The Undertaker has not ruled out another WWE match in the future

As it stands, The Deadman’s superb Boneyard match with AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36 will be his last.

He said: “I believe I’m at a place now, post-Boneyard, which was a hellacious battle against one of the best in the business.

“Here you are, climbing on your motorcycle and taking off. There was a lot of thought and a lot of emotion, one of those being ‘are you happy enough with that?’ It was a powerful moment.
