iPhone 12 launch event date leaked - and it suggests there's not long to wait

It’s one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of the year, and now a new leak has given us a hint at the launch event date for the iPhone 12.

Many Apple fans had hoped to get a glimpse at the iPhone 12 during Apple’s September Time Flies event, but were left disappointed.

Now, Jon Prosser, a respected leaker, claims that Apple will unveil its four new iPhones at an event on October 13.

Mr Prosser tweeted his predictions alongside details for the four iPhones, expected to be called the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

He said: “Apple’s first shipment of final iPhone 12 units is going out to distributers on October 5th.

“The shipment includes:  iPhone 12 mini 5.4 (Definitely the final marketing name) -64/128/256

“iPhone 12 6.1 -64/128/256. Event on October 13, as I mentioned before.”

In a follow-up tweet he added: “Don’t worry — iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max start at 128GB.”

The news comes shortly after a report indicated that the iPhone 12 could be Apple’s first smartphone with no headphones or charging plug in the box.

Is this the iPhone 12?

The rumour comes from MacRumors, which spotted hints in the iOS 14.2 software code.

MacRumors explained: “In iOS 14 and earlier versions of iOS, there’s a mention of reducing exposure to RF energy by using the ‘supplied headphones,’ which is the same wording that Apple has used for years now.

“In iOS 14.2, this wording has been tweaked to say just ‘headphones,’ removing the ‘supplied’ part of this statement.

“All prior mentions of headphones have included ‘supplied,’ and the deliberate elimination of the word in the new code strongly suggests Apple has no plans to ‘supply’ headphones with the upcoming ‌iPhone 12‌ models.”
