WWE legend Kurt Angle reveals free agent Brock Lesnar has told him ‘several times’ he wants UFC return against Jon Jones
WWE legend Kurt Angle is stirring the Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones pot once again.
Previously, Angle told Ariel Helwani that although Lesnar has announced his retirement from MMA, the one fight that would tempt him back to the octagon would be facing Jones.
“I know he said that he’s retired,” said Angle. “The one fight he wants, and I don’t know if it’s ever going to happen, but he wants to go up against Jon Jones.”
A lot has happened since Angle said that.
There has been a global pandemic that has seen Brock Lesnar’s use and value to WWE become less prominent and his contract has lapsed.
Technically, Lesnar is a free agent right now even though many expect him to return to WWE when a deal can be agreed.
Also in that time, Jon Jones has relinquished his light-heavyweight title and has moved to heavyweight for the first time in his career.

One might say the stars have aligned and speaking on the Wrestling Inc podcast with Nick Hausemen, Angle said Lesnar has reiterated his desire to face Jones several times.
“Brock’s told me that several times, that’s who he wants… I think that might be the only way to get Brock to fight. I think he just wants Jones.”
It’s been mixed messages with who Jones will face first at heavyweight.
Dana White has said he is welcome to walk into a title shot against Stipe Miocic, but only after Francis Nagnnou has had a shot.
Miocic hasn’t welcomed a second fight with Ngannou – whom he defeated convincingly at UFC 220 in 2018 – and says he wants a new challenge.
The heavyweight champion also says he should get the first crack at Lesnar if the WWE legend returns to UFC, but Lesnar only seems to want Jones.
What a confusing merry-go-round the heavyweight division is at present!
Dana White has his work cut out making the matchups and/or convincing Lesnar to return, but it seems unfathomable that Ngannou won’t get a shot at the title next.
Lesnar last appeared for WWE at WrestleMania 36 at the beginning of April, but he hasn’t been in the UFC testing pool since 2019.
