West Ham make improved £30million James Tarkowski bid after initial £27million offer rejected by Burnley

West Ham have made a new £30million bid for Burnley defender James Tarkowski, talkSPORT understands.

The Hammers had an initial offer worth around £27m rejected by the Clarets last week as David Moyes seeks to add the England defender to his squad in east London.

The West Ham boss is determined to land the 27-year-old and a fresh approach has been made which Burnley have yet to respond to.

West Ham’s latest bid is understood to be worth an initial £30m but the total fee could rise with various add-ons included.

Earlier this week, former West Ham striker and current academy coach Carlton Cole said signing Tarkowski is a must for the Hammers this summer.

Asked if West Ham should bring the centre-back to the London Stadium, Cole told Wednesday’s talkSPORT Breakfast: “Yes. Listen, I think he’s going to bring a lot of experience. That experience is very, very important.

“We have very good defenders but I think it would be a good to add to that just to shore up the back a little bit.

“And someone like him coming in would be very good for the club to go in the right direction.

“What we do with the Diangana money is very important for the future of the club.”
