UFC president Dana White says he’d be happy to make Jon Jones vs Brock Lesnar… with the Beast Incarnate expected to re-sign with WWE

News broke earlier this week that Brock Lesnar is technically a free agent right now.

PW Insider reported that the Beast Incarnate failed to agree terms with WWE and his contract has expired as a result.

Naturally, speculation has begun to run rampant over what Lesnar does next and it seems like a return to UFC is in the offing once again.

Jon Jones has said he’d be interested in facing Lesnar before; WWE legend Kurt Angle also said last year that if Lesnar would come out of MMA retirement for one fight, it would be against Jones.

Now Bones has officially declared he will be a heavyweight and upon hearing the Lesnar news, the former light-heavyweight champion said: “Brock I’ll beatcho ass too.”

UFC president Dana White has told TMZ that he would be happy to make Jones vs Lesnar if Brock is ‘seriously interested’.

There are a lot of things in play here, however.

First off, Lesnar retired from MMA last year after teasing a comeback and challenging then-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

Lesnar, 43, also hasn’t competed in UFC since defeating Mark Hunt at UFC 200 back in 2016. He did win, but it was later overturned because of a failed drugs test.

There has also been speculation – based off nothing more than assumptions, really – that AEW might make a play for Lesnar.

While Tony Khan has the money to make that move if he really wanted to, it’s hard to believe he’d commit a figure close to the $12million WWE pay Lesnar a year to prise him away.

Lesnar is the kind of man that can be bought, but that figure is probably more than what AEW pay their entire roster combined and then some. It’s highly, highly unlikely.

The word inside WWE is that Lesnar will re-sign when the time is right. WWE don’t need to use him while they do not have fans in attendance, and Lesnar is in no rush to leave the comfort of his Canadian home during these COVID-19 times.

It’s believed Lesnar will re-sign with the company when he’s needed, and that this isn’t a power play like he’s used in the past.

Although, being the savvy businessman that Lesnar is, it would be no surprise to see him entertain offers to make WWE pay more – and they will end up paying it.

Is Lesnar fighting Jon Jones out of the question? Not at all. Even if he was under WWE contract he could – that’s what he did for the Hunt fight.

And how about Lesnar leaving WWE altogether and wrestling elsewhere; is that likely? No.
