Manchester United prepared to sell Sergio Romero with Chelsea and Aston Villa interested in goalkeeper transfer
Sergio Romero could be sold by Manchester United this summer with the Red Devils prepared to listen to offers for the goalkeeper.
And this is a boost to Chelsea and Aston Villa, both of whom have been linked with the 33-year-old glovesman throughout the ongoing transfer window.
Romero has been Man United’s backup goalkeeper since joining from Sampdoria in 2015
According to the Express, United chiefs are willing to cash in on Romero before October’s transfer deadline as Dean Henderson has returned to Old Trafford for the new campaign.
He will compete with David de Gea to be Man United’s No.1 following two excellent loan spells at Sheffield United, and having recently penned a long-term contract extension with the Red Devils.
Lee Grant remains Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s third-choice glovesman with Romero to be offered an Old Trafford exit to seek consistent first-team football.
And the report claims both Villa and the Blues are keen on Argentina international Romero heading into the start of the new season.

Villa lost Pepe Reina at the end of last season when his loan deal ended and so want a new keeper, while Chelsea have been hunting for a glovesman all summer to replace the under-fire Kepa.
Edouard Mendy appears to be nearing a move to Stamford Bridge from Rennes, with Romero an alternate option should that proposed deal collapse.
