Kai Havertz transfer: Chelsea agree £89m deal to sign Germany ace with Malang Sarr offered to Bayer Leverkusen on loan

Chelsea have agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Kai Havertz, reports claim.

Sky in Germany say a deal worth up to £89million (€100m) has been reached between the two clubs, with the Blues paying £72m up front and the rest as add-ons.

Negotiations were concluded on Wednesday, and Havertz wants the transfer to be finalised as soon as possible – although he is yet to undergo a medical and remains with the Germany squad for their Nations League clashes against Spain and Switzerland.

Chelsea have offered summer signing Malang Sarr, the centre-back, to Leverkusen on a loan basis for the entire 2020/21 season to sweeten the deal.

Harry Redknapp insists ‘nothing fazes’ Frank Lampard and backs the Chelsea boss to excel after new transfers

Sarr recently joined the Blues on a free transfer, penning terms at Stamford Bridge having left Nice at the end of last season.

Havertz will become Chelsea’s SEVENTH summer signing when his arrival is finally announced, following Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Xavier Mbuyamba and the aforementioned Sarr to west London.

And further transfer business is expected, as Chelsea are preparing to table another bid for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy after their initial offer was rejected.

Furthermore, West Ham United’s Declan Rice also remains a target of Frank Lampard’s before October’s transfer deadline.

Havertz, who has scored 46 goals in 150 games for Leverkusen despite his youth, has long been lauded as one of Germany’s brightest talents.

He’s been compared to France legend Zinedine Zidane due to his intellect and fluidity on the pitch, and also to compatriot Michael Ballack – who himself played for Chelsea – because of his incredible record in front of goal.
