Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho offered reunion with Diego Costa as Atletico Madrid put striker up for sale
Tottenham have been linked with a shock move for former Chelsea striker Diego Costa, who has been put up for sale by Atletico Madrid.
The pair worked together during Mourinho’s second spell in charge of Chelsea, which saw them win the Premier League and League Cup in the 2014/15 season.
Spurs have been linked with, among others, Luis Suarez and Callum Wilson, however, Costa is likely to be a cheaper option in the current market.
The 31-year-old is entering the final year of his Atletico contract and is coming off a disappointing season which saw him record just five goals in all competitions.
However, the Spain international would undoubtedly bring the added aggression that Mourinho has called for from his players.
It’s understood Spurs would face competition from Benfica, should they press ahead and make a move for the experienced frontman.
Tottenham have already completed deals for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and goalkeeper Joe Hart this window.
Spurs have also reached an agreement to sign Wolves right-back Matt Doherty in a £16m deal, talkSPORT understands.
