‘That’s not true, I like you!’ – Liverpool and Man United icons Jamie Carragher and Peter Schmeichel hilariously end their ‘feud’
Jamie Carragher put an end to stories about a feud with Premier League icon Peter Schmeichel by giving his fellow pundit a virtual hug on Friday night.
The Liverpool and Manchester United legends, working for CBS Sports, differed on their opinion of Neymar during Paris Saint-Germain’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Atalanta.
Carragher and Schmeichel kissed and made up
Schmeichel was critical of the Brazilian – and Carragher told him to ‘stick to goalkeeping’ following Neymar’s role in the comeback.
It was all in good jest but some reports suggested the pair had fallen out – and those stories didn’t go unnoticed by Schmeichel in Lisbon.
The Dane, responding to a particular Daily Mail story, said: “It’s one of them, you sit there, you go through your morning routine, trying to find out what’s happening around the world.
“And you get to this particular newspaper, which likes to have a dig at people in TV.
“Then I find out that I am in a feud with you, Jamie. That’s not true, I like you!”
Carragher, speaking to Schmeichel via a screen in the CBS studio, responded by walking over and giving his colleague a virtual hug.
The ex-Liverpool defender said: “Listen, if you’re that offended by it, do you want me to apologise and make it up to you? Come on, give me a high-five.”
