Rhian Brewster scored twice as Liverpool came from two goals down to salvage a draw against Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday.

Premier League and Championship clubs are reportedly keen to sign Brewster on loan with Liverpool yet to make a decision on his immediate future.

And he would have impressed Reds boss Jurgen Klopp with his two goals in Austria.

Liverpool were 2-0 down after just 13 minutes thanks to Patson Daka’s quick-fire brace.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all started the match, but it was substitute Brewster who turned the game on its head.

Brewster halved the deficit in the 72nd minute, before pulling his side level nine minutes later.

Liverpool suffered an injury blow when Virgil van Dijk, who played every minute of the Reds’ Premier League-winning 2019/20 season, was forced off with a head injury.

The Dutchman suffered a nasty cut to the face and was replaced by Nat Phillips in the 55th minute.

Despite initial concerns, Klopp played down the seriousness of the injury.

He said: “Virg only looks like he has a piercing now and has a plaster on it.

“It should not be, and is, no problem.

“In the moment it is of course not cool but there will not be a problem.”

Meanwhile, there were run-outs for Liverpool stars Andy Robertson, Fabinho, Alisson, Naby Keita and new signing Konstantinos Tsimikas.
