Premier League confirms extra 20 live TV games for 2020/21 season but no blanket broadcast despite behind closed doors matches
An extra 20 games will be shown live on TV during the 2020/21 Premier League season, it has been confirmed.
However, there will be no more blanket coverage of matches available to fans despite fixtures taking place behind closed doors at the start of the season.
Every Premier League game was shown on TV when the 2019/20 campaign restarted in June from its coronavirus suspension.
Supporters were banned from watching their teams in the stadiums.

Under current proposals, fans may be allowed back in from October but even then numbers will be limited.
This leaves fans facing the prospect of being unable to watch their teams’ matches unless they are picked by broadcasters with the season due to get underway on September 12. The full fixture schedule was released on Thursday morning.
The Premier League has confirmed that an additional 20 matches will be shown by the rights holders, taking the total from 200 up to 220 for the 2020/21 season.
The Daily Mail report that clubs tried to obtain permission to live stream games that would not be broadcast, as EFL clubs do with the iFollow service.
This was blocked by Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon Prime – who paid a collective £5billion over three years for the rights.
To compensate, those broadcasters will show extra games next season with Sky getting an additional 12, BT Sport an extra six and two on Amazon Prime.
There will also be an additional two midweek rounds of fixtures to be played across the weeks commencing January 11 and 18, and the second round on the week commencing May 10.
A number of games during Project Restart were shown on free-to-air TV but no such matches will be available to fans for the 2020/21 campaign.
