Leeds, Newcastle and Leicester among SIX Premier League clubs battling for Celtic star Odsonne Edouard after Scottish giants’ latest Champions League disaster
Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is a target for SIX Premier League clubs following the Scottish giants’ latest Champions League letdown.
The Hoops are bracing themselves for a bidding war from the English top flight and fear they could lose their record signing after failing to qualify for the group stages in Europe’s top competition for the third straight season.
Edouard joined the Celts from Paris Saint-Germain in June 2018 for a club-record £9million, and has since managed 64 goals and 32 assists in 130 games for the Scottish giants.
But the 22-year-old is said to be considering his future at Parkhead following the club’s latest European disaster, crashing out to Hungarian minnows Ferencvaros, and there are no shortage of suitors.
According to The Sun, Leeds, Newcastle, Leicester, Everton, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are all reportedly keen on the young French hitman, who is said to be valued at around £30m.
It is claimed Celtic are under no pressure to sell despite their European blow, and chiefs do not want to sell their star man.
But sources in France claim Edouard’s agents are fully award of the growing interest and his head could be turned by the promise of bigger wages and a move to the English top flight.
Among those interested is Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, who signed Edouard for Celtic during his reign at Celtic Park and remains a big admirer.
The Foxes are even said to have sent a scout to watch the striker in action against Dundee United on Saturday.
But they weren’t alone, with Everton and Leeds scouts also in attendance at Tannadice, as Celtic sealed a 1-0 victory.
Edouard missed that disastrous defeat to Ferencvaros with a thigh injury, but was still recently named in the France Under-21 squad, having a remarkable record in 11 goals in six games for his country.
