James Maddison signs new four-year Leicester contract as Foxes prepare to sell Ben Chilwell to Chelsea in £50m deal
James Maddison has ended any doubts over his future by signing a new contract with Leicester, it has been announced.
The playmaker has penned a fresh long-term deal with the Foxes to commit himself to the club until at least 2024.
Maddison, 23, has been heavily linked with a transfer to Manchester United in the past, but the England international is settled at the King Power Stadium and in no hurry to leave.
And his new long-term contract is proof of his commitment to Leicester, who fell out of the Champions League qualification places on the final day of last season and will be playing Europa League football in 2020/21.
The playmaker told LCFC.com: “I’m so happy to sign a new contract for this Football Club.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time to be a Leicester City player with so many positive things happening on and off the pitch and I’m delighted to be part of that.
“What we’ve achieved as a Club this season is a huge step forward for us and I know there’s so much more to come from this team.

“I’ve enjoyed every moment since joining Leicester City. The supporters have been incredible to me and we’ve a fantastic set of players in that dressing room who are determined to show what we’re capable of doing together in both Europe and the Premier League next season.”
Maddison has made 76 appearances for Leicester since arriving from Norwich in 2018 for a fee of £22million, scoring 16 goals, and he’s established himself as one of the brightest talents in the Premier League.
The signing of the midfielder’s new contract comes with Leicester set to lose left-back Ben Chilwell to Chelsea.
A breakthrough in negotiations last week has seen the Blues close in on the £50m signing of the full-back, with Frank Lampard moving to improve Chelsea’s defence which was remarkably leaky last term.
Chilwell has made 123 appearances for Leicester since graduating from their academy, and his performances in the Premier League have resulted in the the 23-year-old also winning 11 caps for England.
