Former Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis sparked panic in Saudi Arabia when he collapsed on the pitch.
His Al-Hilal teammates were clearly concerned and beckoned for medics to enter the pitch as quickly as possible.
The 35-year-old has a condition which causes him to suddenly collapse during games, meaning this is not the first time this has happened.
Gomis, a former France international, also collapsed at White Hart Lane during a Premier League game vs Tottenham in March 2015 and was stretchered off the pitch.
However, he sparked panic once again as the veteran striker collapsed and lay motionless on the pitch during the game against Al-Alhi.
After just 13 minutes, Gomis hit the deck because of a vasovagal syncope – when the body reacts to a trigger and an individual’s heart rate drops suddenly and their blood pressure plummets.
The condition can be caused by multiple factors; feeling nauseous, sudden changes in temperature or stress are known causes.
Gomis – who has been at Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal since 2018 – played the full 90 minutes of the 2-1 defeat at Al-Ahli.
After the game, the striker tweeted to reassure his followers.
He wrote: “Thanks for your many messages.
“More fear than harm. We will continue to fight for @Alhilal_FC to be champion.
“Thanks again, your lion who loves you very much.”
As well as for Swansea and now Al-Hilal, Gomis also collapsed during a game for Galatasaray during the 2017/18 season.
