Deontay Wilder seemingly taunts Dillian Whyte with cryptic Russian message after Alexander Povetkin KO
Deontay Wilder has appeared to send a subtle taunt to Dillian Whyte following his knockout defeat to Alexander Povetkin on Saturday night.
When the former WBC champion was dethroned by Tyson Fury back in February, Britain’s ‘Body Snatcher’ burst out laughing in response.
Now Whyte has been beaten and Wilder broke his recent silence to post the following on social media.
He wrote: “I believe in glaz da glaz!!!”
The phrase ‘glaz da glaz’ translates from Russian into ‘an eye for an eye’.
Many are of course speculating this is a message sent by Wilder in Povetkin’s language to suggest that Whyte got what was coming to him.
He has not confirmed this however, and is keeping the post cryptic.
Whyte told Sky Sports News in his first post-fight interview on Sunday morning: “I was bossing the fight, I was winning the fight, I got clocked, it’s heavyweight boxing.
“It’s not like I got beat up round after round, I got clocked, that’s all. He dipped low, I shoot the hook, he came with the uppercut and that was it.
“The main thing is we’ve got a rematch, we’re gonna exercise the rematch, try and get it done by the end of the year.
“I’ll have a couple weeks’ rest and get straight back in the gym.
“It’s not like I need to improve on anything really.
“I have to just be a bit more switched on in certain stages and clock on to his pattern a bit better.
“When he dips low, now I’ll realise he’ll come up with the hook or the uppercut. It’s a simple adjustment to make.”
