David de Gea or Sergio Romero? How Manchester United should line-up to face Sevilla in Europa League semi-final

Manchester United must overcome Europa League specialists Sevilla if they want to get their hands on silverware this season.

The Red Devils are in Cologne for Sunday night’s semi-final against the La Liga club, who recently eliminated Wolves.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were less impressive in the previous round, scraping past Copenhagen in extra-time thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty.

And the United boss knows his team must step up if they want to get past a team who have won the competition five times in the last 14 years.

“You know that when you come to a semi-final, you’re playing against big teams,” the Norwegian said. “Good teams with quality.

Jamie O’Hara says Manchester United paying £100m for Jadon Sancho would be ‘wrong’ and ‘really stupid’

“It’s time to step up for big players, big game moments.

“You have to have 100 per cent focus because any little moment can change the game.

“We’ve learned that it’s very painful to lose a semi-final.”

How Manchester United should line up

Eric Bailly and Fred were brought in for that game, but neither of them did much to suggest to Solskjaer that they should keep their place ahead of Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic.

Sergio Romero usually starts in goal for the cup matches, however Solskjaer may be tempted to use David de Gea given the importance of the contest.

De Gea has a point to prove with Dean Henderson returning from his loan at Sheffield United this summer, but we still expect Romero to start this one.
