Chris Hemsworth set for ‘insanely physical’ workout for Hulk Hogan film as he will need to be bigger than Thor to play WWE legend
Chris Hemsworth insists he will have to undergo an ‘insanely physical’ body transformation to play Hulk Hogan in a film about the WWE legend.
The biopic will be a Netflix original directed by Todd Phillips, the mastermind behind 2019’s Oscar-winning hit Joker.
Hemsworth has starred in Marvel’s Thor since 2011
For his role as the demi God, Hemsworth is already in fantastic shape
Hemsworth, who is best known for his role in Thor, told Total Film: “As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical.
“I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor.”
Hogan is a 12-time wrestling world champion and appears sporadically in WWE nowadays.
Hogan famously beat Andre The Giant at WrestleMania 3
The WWE legend was also victorious over company chairman Vince McMahon in a Street Fight at WrestleMania 19
The 66-year-old, who is 6ft 7ins, was last seen on WWE television when Team Hogan beat Team Flair at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia last October.
Hemsworth added: “There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude.
“I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world, which I’m really looking forward to doing.”
The film will be written by Scott Silver, who wrote Joker, while Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, will serve as an executive producer.
Hogan is beloved by the WWE Universe and was arguably the biggest star of the 1980s
Hogan was billed at a height of 6ft 7ins and weighed around 21 stone
It will document Hogan’s rise to the top of the wrestling world in the 1980s when Hulkamania was running wild.
The Hulkster put on classics with Andre The Giant, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Randy Savage.
Hemsworth will be working with Netflix again following their successful thriller Extraction, which is one of the company’s most-watched original films.
