Hospitals around the country have been showing their appreciation to the UFC star for his incredible generosity.

Micheal Sheridan, CEO of the Mercy Hospital, wrote on Twitter: “Huge thanks to @NotoriousMMA for donating thousands of pieces of #COVID19 PPE to @MercyCork #FrontLineHeroes. Some very happy porters collected these this morning at our @MercyfoundCork offices.”

Doug Leddin wrote: “Another huge shipment hitting Cork today as part of the @TheNotoriousMMA donation. 20,000 gloves, 8,500 FFP2 Masks and 2,000 Visors. Some amount of work done by Conor’s friends and business partners to make all this happen.”

The Mater Foundation wrote: “Last week, the Mater Hospital received a delivery of 20,000 protective masks & 1,200 visors & gloves from McGregor Sports Ltd. This equipment is vital for the protection of our frontline heroes and we are incredibly grateful for this donation. Thank you @TheNotoriousMMA.”

McGregor has also been holding the government to account during the coronavirus pandemic and urged the country to go in full lockdown in March.

He said: “If you do not enter the game, you cannot win it. We have now entered the game and with strict adherence to the methods we will win.

“We must abide by this and I pray for health of the country that we do so. We cannot go by chance here.

“I urge our government to utilise our defence forces. Any less than full adherence to these newly put forth methods by any member of our society will not only be a mockery to what we are attempting to do – it would put the rest of our great nation in danger.

“You are doing your country an incredible deed by staying put.”

In Ireland, 1,232 people have died from coronavirus with the country also having 20,612 confirmed cases.
