Vince McMahon believes young WWE recruit dubbed ‘a young Edge’ can become major wrestler
As the world remains in lockdown, an increasing number of previously unknown NXT wrestlers have been making appearances on RAW and Smackdown.
WWE’s full roster has not had to travel to the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida for the shows and with with the bulk of NXT recruits close by, it makes sense to use them.
The global health pandemic saw WWE release several big names and the young superstars have been asked to step up.
Prior to the changes, WWE had around 150 wrestlers between the US and UK performance centres, many of whom are yet to get even close to TV.
One of the recruits who made his debut on SmackDown recently is Cal Bloom, who is said to have impressed chairman Vince McMahon despite being squashed by Sheamus.
Bloom, the son of former WWE star Wayne Bloom – aka Beau Beverly – part of the Beverly Brothers tag team, who competed in the 1990s.
The 26-year-old is 6ft 5in and signed with the company in March 2019 and, according to wrestlingnews.co, has been compared to a young Edge.
While bulkier than Edge, he is similar in height to the legendary grappler complete with flowing blonde hair. While he is still pretty raw and likely to go though NXT before making moves on the main roster, McMahon sees something in the talent.
McMahon has a penchant for seeing into the future and being able to spot talent when he sees it.
This claim is backed up by Drew McIntyre, a man McMahon proclaimed as the Chosen One – eleven years before he won a world title.
“Vince has a bit of a crystal ball. He seems to predict the future. I think he was talking about the Network long before there ever was a Network. There’s various other examples. He said future world champion. He didn’t specify when it was going to happen.”
