Willie Mullins to be top trainer? Monalee to spring Gold Cup surprise? Rachael Blackmore to take jockeys' title?

Cheltenham Festival 2020: Race-by-race schedule, start times and live talkSPORT coverage

There will be 28 races in total throughout the week, and you’ll be able to listen to commentary of all the action across the talkSPORT network.

We asked our racing team to offer their expert insight and do their best to provide punters with some hot tips for the week.

Here’s what they had to say…

Tom Bull – Sun racing journalist

Who will be top jockey? Rachael Blackmore

Rachael Blackmore can become the first ever female jockey to land top honours at the Festival. Since she emerged a few seasons ago her rise has been meteoric, and she showed she can do it on the big stage with two fabulous victories at last year’s meeting. This time around she has even better book of rides with the likes of Aspire Tower, Honeysuckle and A Plus Tard all holding major claims, and by Friday she could well have made history.

What’s your hot tip for the Festival? Thyme Hill (Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle – Friday, 2.50pm)

Philip Hobbs has a battalion of riches to go to war with this year and his Thyme Hill looks a banker in the Albert Bartlett. He won the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle at Sandown in fantastic style when last seen, and we know he acts at the track as he sluiced away from some hot opposition at Cheltenham back in November. He has both the speed and stamina required for this contest and will be staying on strongest when others have cried enough.

Who will be top trainer? Willie Mullins

As tempting as it is to put Henry de Bromhead forward for this, there’s just no getting past the firepower of Willie Mullins. The Closutton colonel has made Cheltenham his own over the past few years and again heads to Gloucestershire with a team full of favourites. He’s also got plenty of chances in the handicaps too, and it would be no surprise to see him lift the title once again.
